Hey Guys, Tom here. I had a question. When my awakening first began I had mega cravings for food, it helped ground me, I went from a vegetarian to meat eater over night. As you might know I've been dealing with a range of vertigo type conditions now for 7 years, food has always helped ground that process. Recently I've been experimenting with vegetarian life again and also Intermittent fasting which has been going well. I tried a 24 hour fast yesterday and by 7pm by energy was moving quite quickly into my head, making all my symptoms worse again. I literally downloaded a bag of nuts to help ground myself. Part of me feels fasting can really help, my body feels so clear and pure. But on the other hand it massively amplifies my symptoms.
im not sure if I should just fast and walk through the hell and fire. See what’s on the other side or just stay in a more simple balanced diet ?
I was interested what experience you'd all had with fasting. How your kundalini responds to it? Whether it has been helpful for you? Thanks, Tom
Hi Tom, 5 years ago I did a fasting retreat. It was guided by a holistically-minded medical doctor who was also interested in trauma healing. The purpose was to help give the digestive system a break so it could heal and reset, and to support the release of trauma held in the tissues of the gut and abdomen. This was supported with gentle yoga and massage. Long story short, I completely fried my nervous system and it took me several months to recover (if not longer). I walked through hell and fire... and got burnt!
My understanding is that one effect of fasting is to allow a lot more energy to move through the body. If that's already happening through kundalini, it can be too much. It also can mean processing speeds up, since the body doesn't have to process food. Again, with kundalini this can mean too much.
YMMV of course. I know someone in an advanced kundalini process who fasts and is very into it, but he was an experienced faster prior to his kundalini awakening. I would also not call him the most grounded person.
Funny you should ask this question now. The past few days I've felt the need to eat a lot lighter and simpler for a while. For my body this feels like a better way to achieve the benefits of fasting. I do think every body is different and constitution is a big factor as well.
